Description

The American Bulldog is a powerful, athletic, and well-muscled working dog known for its strength, agility, and loyalty to family. 
Physical Characteristics
  • Size & Weight: Males stand 22 to 28 inches tall and weigh 75 to 120 pounds; females are smaller at 20 to 26 inches tall and 60 to 90 pounds.

  • Coat & Color: They have a short, smooth coat that is predominantly white, often marked with black, brown, red, tan, or brindle patches.

  • Head & Build: They feature a large, broad head with a strong jaw and a powerful, stocky frame built like a tank.

  • Types: There are two main variations—the heavier, blockier Classic (Johnson type) and the leaner, more athletic Standard (Scott type). 

Temperament

  • Personality: Confident, energetic, and affectionate with their families, often acting as gentle giants indoors.

  • Protective: Highly loyal and naturally protective, though they can be wary of strangers and require early socialization.

  • Activity Level: High-energy working dogs that need 1 to 2 hours of daily exercise and mental stimulation.
